There is no denying that at Fayette Senior Services we strive to empower every senior citizen we come in contact with. Described as providing someone with the resources needed to make them stronger and more confident, this word is all encompassing of what we work towards for seniors on a daily basis. FSS aims at being one of a kind, a treasure, and a difference maker in the lives of those we encounter. We work hard to meet the needs of those we serve and play a significant role in the lives of seniors, engaging and encouraging them to age well and live well long into their golden years. Our unique senior center is something you must experience firsthand to truly understand. It is something many don’t believe when they first see the center, so active and full of activities for people with any type of interest to get involved in! It provides an extraordinary atmosphere in both Fayetteville and Peachtree City for those aged fifty and better to call their second home. It’s as if FSS has found the way to make you feel you have learned for the very first time what life in your senior years is meant to be. FSS member Trish Vines shared her excitement about the abundance of activities we offer: “The only thing I kick myself over and over for is not joining sooner. People kept telling me about FSS. Now that I’ve finally joined, I can’t get enough of it. There is always so much to choose from and get involved in. I don’t know where I’d be or what I’d be doing if it wasn’t for FSS. They make life exciting for seniors!” exclaimed Vines. For 40 years, FSS has been making a meaningful difference in the social, emotional, and physical well-being of aging adults in Fayette and surrounding counties. Between three locations, we offer over 100 programs a month ranging from social, leisure, fitness, educational, technology, wellness, arts & crafts, and special events in addition to a travel group. This center plays a vital role in senior’s lives as they age by helping them maintain their independence, offering ways to stay socially active, providing fitness classes for strength as well as continued learning and mental engagement. We also serve as more than just a social outlet. To so many of our members, we serve as a lifeline, a resource for connection within a community, and when desired, a form of support and comfort during difficult times in their lives. One member recently shared his experience with FSS when he lost his wife“I reached out for FSS and they reached out for me,” he shared, “I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t turned to the center for support. They saved me.” He continued that this center provides a place for people to call home during difficult times. It provides support to navigate through a loss, social interaction when lonely, and a way to try new things as people transition into new phases of their lives. We are here for seniors in our community and ready to lend a helping hand when and where needed! We can’t wait to have you get involved with our family!
