August 28, 2018. FAYETTEVILLE, GA. Fayette Senior Services (FSS), Inc. a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, announces their extension of hours for their non-emergency medical transportation services scheduled Monday through Friday beginning September 4. These extended hours were made possible by an operational matching grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission and will include the opportunity for individuals to schedule rides for necessary medical appointments between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., an additional 4 hours per day. Unfortunately, the same week the operational grant was announced, FSS had to retire an unrepairable van with over 200,000 miles on it. FSS has begun a new equipment fundraising effort to replace that van immediately. If you would like to donate toward the new van or purchase a sponsorship opportunity including advertising on the new van, please reach out to Morgan Lanier at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-769-8430. Resources such as FSS transportation program are lifesaving to individuals unable to drive. As the leading provider for low-cost transportation services available in our county, FSS delivers seniors to crucial doctor visits, dialysis, and pharmacy pick-ups. In addition, they provide a fleet that is equipped to handle wheel chairs, walkers and clients with mobility issues, delivering them from doorstep to doorstep as needed. For many, FSS is the only option to get to their life saving treatments at an affordable cost. “Many of our riders have no other means of getting to medical appointments. We are constantly told how much we improve their quality of life through just one simple ride,” shares Jeff Wix, FSS Transportation Manager. “These extended hours will allow for even more opportunities for those we serve to have options for when they can schedule appointments. We have already received positive feedback and gratitude for opening up more possibilities for those who take advantage of FSS’ transportation services.” With this ongoing support for services such as transportation, FSS will be able to provide even more rides to seniors through these extended hours that enable them to age well and live well in the comfort of their homes. The transportation team at FSS transports approximately 400 clients over 1,200 times per month for an average of 250,000 miles a year. FSS’s transportation fleet will now be on the road 12 hours a day Monday through Friday with these additional hours, which will make these numbers continue to climb even higher.
