Fayette Senior Services Garden in Full Blossom with Help of the Community

March 24, 2021. FAYETTEVILLE, GA. Fayette Senior Services (FSS), a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, is in search of volunteers to help spring forward their beautiful garden! Spring is finally in the air, and FSS is in need of assistance in getting the garden ready for another gorgeous season. Join them on Tuesday, March 30th at 12 p.m. for a day outside to enjoy refreshing lemonade, hot dogs, and treats while giving back to the community garden. This event will take place onsite in the garden at 4 Center Drive, Fayetteville. Stop by to see the progress already being made – thanks in large part to the help of donations made by several local companies and community groups – socialize with others, and even get your hands dirty if you feel up for some planting. Bring your favorite plant or flower to either donate for FSS to plant or bring some garden gloves and plant your donation while you are at the center. A limited amount of iris’ will be available for those interested in taking one home, on a first come first serve basis. If you can’t join the day of the event, feel free to coordinate another day with them by contacting Volunteer Coordinator Carrie Bittinger at cbittinger@fayss.org or 770-461-0813.

For anyone who has had a chance to walk through or pass by Fayette Senior Services’ gorgeous garden, you will understand when we say it is hard to describe the beauty it holds. When you hear the story of how it came together, that beauty grows even more. As FSS approaches their 10-year anniversary of the garden being complete, you can’t help but sit back and reflect on how it came to life. It all began with a small idea and from there it blossomed. When it was time for it to finally come to life, the community came together to support the organization through donations of materials and funds from local businesses, members, and citizens. As they are 10 years in, it’s time for another facelift, and once again FSS is calling on the community to help! As garden season is among us again, FSS is looking for one-time volunteers and donors for their specific event on March 30th in addition to new volunteers to continue to make this garden thrive. “Our volunteers are the heart behind our beautiful garden and are the ones who keep it going. We are always looking for volunteers to add to our already amazing team to help continue to make it the most beautiful space it can be. Whether you have a green thumb or are looking to get some more Vitamin D, we would love to have you be a part of something so special at FSS.” shares Bittinger, FSS Volunteer Coordinator. Please reach out to Carrie if you are interested in volunteering.
