FSS Member Selected as Grand Marshal of 4th of July Parade

July 10, 2018. FAYETTEVILLE, GA. Fayette Senior Services (FSS), a 501 (C)(3) recognizes its outstanding member Gene “The Champ” Sebastian for being selected as Grand Marshal in the Peachtree City 4th of July Parade. Sebastian was selected in recognition of his service to our country in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer Third Class during World War II. As Grand Marshal, Sebastian led the parade and expressed that he “was overwhelmed with love and support from the community during the ride.” Sebastian was interviewed for the city of Peachtree City’s website and was photographed during the parade. FSS is so proud that Sebastian was chosen for this honor and represented his community with pride!

Sebastian is originally from Pennsylvania and after the military pursued a career in boxing, just like his brother, former Middleweight champion Billy Soose. He worked for the Pennsylvania Police, Northeast Airlines and the FAA before retiring to Fayette County. Sebastian has lived in Fayette County since 1988 and he believes it is the perfect place for retirement. Sebastian is one of Fayette Senior Services first members, and has been coming to Fayette Senior Services for many years. He began his FSS journey as a Meals on Wheels driver for three years and now he enjoys playing pool at the Fayetteville Life Enrichment Center. Sebastian remarks that his favorite part about Fayette Senior Services is “the comradeship from all over the universe.” He admires the variety in programs that FSS has to offer and remarks that the “scheduling is so nice.” Sebastian is grateful for this “beautiful place to be and for everything that FSS does for the community.” We are lucky to have volunteers and members as wonderful as “The Champ” and we once again commend him on his achievement of being Grand Marshal for the 4th of July Parade!
