Junk Mama’s General Store Extends A Paw to Fayette Senior Services’ AniMeals Program

March 8, 2021. FAYETTEVILLE, GA. Junk Mama’s General Store has partnered with Fayette Senior Services (FSS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support their AniMeals program. For the month of March, Junk Mama’s will have a collection box at their location – 125 Fisher Avenue Fayetteville, GA 30214 – for drop off of cat and dog food for the beloved animal companions of FSS’ Meals On Wheels program. Drop off for donations can be done anytime Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This AniMeals program is designed to provide clients with donations and the delivery of pet food so they are able to maintain the important bond between a pet and owner. Donations such as these help to serve the current animals of Meals on Wheels clients and make the program accessible to new clients who are struggling to care for their companions. Cindy Phillips, owner of Junk Mama’s, shared her enthusiasm of giving back to a place like FSS. “Our small town community has been so supportive of Junk Mama’s General Store over the years, and so we especially wanted to give back to the community during these difficult times. While researching non-profits to support, I recently learned about the AniMeals program at FSS. Our furry friends are so important, especially during times like these where some of us have to spend so much time in solitude.” FSS delivers over 300 pounds of wet and dry pet food each month.

Since 2009, Fayette Senior Services has been collecting and delivering donations of pet food for these animals on a monthly basis. Many Meals on Wheels clients find it challenging to provide food for their pets when they are not able to leave their homes. Some of these homebound seniors give up their own meals so that their pets can eat as well. For any of us with a pet in our lives, we know they are more than just an animal, they are our family and play an important role in our lives. Many of Fayette County’s homebound seniors that are receiving Meals on Wheels will be the first to tell you how much they love and value their pet family. Fayette Senior Services’ AniMeals program has allowed many in our community to continue to care for their animals by providing them with much needed pet food they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford or obtain. This program makes a difference not only in the quality of life for the animals, but also for the homebound seniors who love and care for them.

FSS is always accepting donations of pet food for this wonderful program. Both food and monetary donations can be made directly to Fayette Senior Services’ at 4 Center Drive, Fayetteville or 203 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City. Sponsorships are also available for those interested in supporting the program on a larger scale. For more information, please contact Morgan Lanier at mlanier@fayss.org or 770-769-8430.
