Brought to you by CredAbility, the purpose of this course is to use the Beat Debt board game to help you realize ways you can get your family motivated about beating debt. When your family is involved in helping to reduce expenses the process is a lot easier to manage.

Beat Debt is an educational strategy board game where players decide whether they will use their dollars to pay down their debts or build up their savings and investments. The object of the game is to be the first player to have a credit card balance of zero dollars and an investment balance of $5,000. The game is designed for ages 10 to adult. The game will be played in groups of 6 and the winner will take home the game to share with the family! The program is FREE and open to the public but pre-registration is required. Do you ever feel uneasy going shopping by yourself or maybe even taking a walk at a local park? In this class, local police officers you’ll learn safety tips, how to be more aware of our surroundings, and how to avoid vulnerable situations. You’ll also learn about new safety devices are available today. Chris Tarbell, a first degree black belt in Kenpo (self defense martial arts) will teach simple moves to help you defend ourselves in a attack situation. Being prepared is the best defense. Pre-registration and fee payment IS required at the Center's Reception Desk.



A LEARNING DAY TRIP - MARTA is SMARTA! | September 29, 9:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.

$20 Members/Non-members plus your lunch money. Limit 12 persons.
Wear comfortable shoes and ride with us as we learn the ins and outs of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority’s (MARTA) rail system. Using a Breeze Card we will make brief stops at the Dunwoody Station (Perimeter Mall), the Arts Station (Woodruff Arts Center), CNN/Dome and Five Points stations. We will stop for lunch near the Arts Center Station. Please arrive at the Center at least 15 minutes prior to the 9:45 departure.Pre-registration and fee payment IS required at the Center's Reception Desk.

We have partnered with our Southside Kroger Pharmacy to offer the flu shot here at the Center. The shot is at no cost for those who have Medicare Part B drug coverage. Bring your card and the Kroger Pharmacy team will file the Medicare Part B for you. If you do not have Medicare Part B, the cost will be $25 payable at the time you receive your shot. Afternoon Tea | Held Quarterly - Next tea time: September 27, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This special afternoon event will offer an opportunity to sample some unique tea blends with traditional British savories (tiny sandwiches) and pastries. Our house Brit, Jeff Wix, will share the history of the English tea times. You will learn proper tea etiquette as you enjoy your tea served in fine china. Please be sure to bring your own favorite tea cup to use and show off. Attendees will have a chance to win prizes for the most unique pattern, the oldest set, etc. Pre-registration and fee payment IS required at the Center's Reception Desk.


 

AARP Driver Safety Course | Tuesday, October 5, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

$12 AARP members - $14 Non-AARP members
Limit 35 persons.

The AARP Driver Safety Program is a refresher course for adult drivers. Tune up your driving skills and update your knowledge of the rules of the road. Most auto insurance companies provide a multi-year discount to graduates! During the lunch break, all attendees, Center members and non-members, are welcome to dine in our Ultimate Café at menu prices. Pre-registration and fee payment IS required at the Center's Reception Desk.



Oktoberfest | Monday, October 26, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with us and bring your friends and family! The festivities include a German polka band, authentic German food prepared by Executive Chef, Donnie Wuerl and Pastry Chef, Lori Bean. The meal will include bratwurst with fresh baked rolls, sauerkraut, German potato salad, and traditional beverages. Tickets are only $15 per person and may be purchased at the reception desk of the Center. Advance ticket sales only. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Fayette Senior Services, a non-profit organization.

Guests will also be given the opportunity to help "grow" the future “Therapeutic Garden,” scheduled to be built adjacent to the Life Enrichment Center. Engraved memory bricks and pavers can be purchased, as well as a variety of unique gifts and traditional German pastries from the “Bavarian Bake Shoppe.”
